Prohibited items

Anything on this page is prohibited on Pasaran regardless of whether it is legal to own where you are. Some entries are prohibited by Indonesian law; others are our own rule because the category cannot be moderated safely at the scale we operate.

The list is not exhaustive. If something is obviously in the spirit of an entry below, treat it as prohibited and ask support before listing it. Guessing wrong costs you the listing and, if repeated, the account.

Listing a prohibited item is not treated as an ordinary rule breach. The listing is removed immediately, the account is restricted pending review, and categories involving wildlife, weapons, drugs or the safety of a minor are reported to the authorities.

No wildlife may be listed on Pasaran, in any form, alive or dead, whole or in parts. This is the rule we enforce most strictly, because Bali sits on a trafficking route and a marketplace listing is the last easy step in it.

• Live wild-caught animals of any species — birds, primates, reptiles, civets, slow lorises, bats, fish taken from reefs.
• Protected and endangered species listed under Indonesian conservation law or CITES, including anything claimed to be captive-bred without documentation.
• Ivory, rhino horn, pangolin scales, turtle and tortoise shell, and any product made from them.
• Tiger, leopard and other big-cat skins, teeth, claws and bones.
• Coral, giant clam shells, sea turtle eggs and marine curios taken from the reef.
• Taxidermy, framed butterflies and insect collections of wild-caught specimens.
• Traditional medicines and ornaments containing any protected animal derivative.

Domestic pets may be rehomed through the pets category under its own rules — a rehoming listing requires the animal’s age, vaccination status and a rehoming rather than a sale framing. Wild animals may never be rehomed, sold or given away here, whatever their origin story.

Payment must stay within Pasaran wherever protected checkout is available, and payment discussion must stay in the message thread everywhere else. The moment money moves outside the platform, every protection either side has disappears — which is exactly why fraudsters ask for it.

• Asking a buyer to transfer to a personal bank account, an e-wallet or a crypto address before an item or property has been seen.
• Requesting payment in gift cards, vouchers, top-up codes or store credit.
• Offering a discount conditional on paying outside Pasaran, or on cancelling an order and paying directly.
• Sending a fake payment receipt, or claiming a transfer is "pending at the bank" to obtain release of goods.
• Acting as an unlicensed money remitter, changer or escrow agent for other members.
• Requesting a deposit to "hold" a viewing slot for a property you have not proven you control.

No legitimate seller on this platform needs a deposit to a personal account before a viewing. If you are asked for one, do not send it — report the listing, and the account behind it is reviewed the same day.

Weapons are prohibited outright, including items sold as collectables or replicas, because a photograph cannot distinguish a deactivated firearm from a working one.

• Firearms of any kind, their parts, magazines, ammunition and reloading equipment.
• Air rifles, airsoft and gel-blaster guns, crossbows and spearguns sold outside a licensed dive retailer.
• Knives sold as weapons, knuckledusters, batons, stun guns and pepper spray.
• Explosives, fireworks, flares, detonators and blasting supplies.
• Corrosive, radioactive and highly flammable chemicals, and compressed-gas cylinders without certification.

Indonesia treats narcotics offences extremely seriously, and no listing on Pasaran may touch them, however coded the wording.

• Narcotics and psychotropic substances, and anything advertised as a legal alternative to them.
• Kratom, nitrous oxide canisters sold for inhalation, and novel psychoactive substances.
• Drug paraphernalia — grinders, bongs, scales marketed for dosing, concealment containers.
• Prescription medicines, including weight-loss injectables, antibiotics and controlled painkillers.
• Unregistered supplements and traditional remedies making medical claims without BPOM registration.
• Alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, vape liquid and shisha products, which require licensed retail channels.

Anything that is not what its branding claims, or that is not the seller’s to sell, is prohibited. Describing a copy honestly as a copy does not make it listable — trade mark infringement does not depend on the buyer being deceived.

• Replica or "mirror quality" fashion, watches, sunglasses, bags and footwear.
• Unauthorised copies of software, films, music, games, courses and streaming credentials.
• Goods with removed or altered serial numbers, and devices locked to another person’s account.
• Items that cannot be shown to be the seller’s to sell, including salvaged fixtures with no provenance.
• Counterfeit currency, forged documents, and blank or novelty identity cards.

Some services are prohibited because they are illegal, and others because they exist only to defeat a check that protects other members.

• Passports, KTP, KITAS, driving licences, diplomas, certificates and visas, whether genuine or forged.
• Visa-run, document-fixing and "guaranteed approval" permit services that bypass official process.
• Account access, verified accounts for sale, review writing, follower and rating manipulation.
• Hacking, surveillance, spyware, stalkerware and services offering access to another person’s data.
• Loan sharking, unlicensed lending and debt collection services.
• Sexual services, escort work, and any listing framed as companionship in exchange for payment.

Nothing that treats a person as a commodity may appear on Pasaran, in any category and under any framing.

• Human remains, body parts, organs, blood, gametes and surrogacy arrangements.
• Any listing involving a minor as the subject of a transaction, including adoption.
• Recruitment that charges the worker a fee, withholds documents, or advertises passport retention.
• Job listings with no named employer that ask for a payment before an interview.

These are not necessarily unlawful, but they require a licensed seller and paperwork we cannot verify at listing scale, so they are not permitted here.

• Medical devices, diagnostic tests, and used medical equipment.
• Agricultural pesticides, herbicides and veterinary medicines.
• Aircraft, aircraft parts, drones above the registration threshold, and marine safety equipment without certification.
• Gambling equipment, lottery tickets and betting services.
• Financial products — securities, investment schemes, cryptocurrency offerings and anything promising a fixed return.
• Recalled products, second-hand child car seats and cots not meeting current safety standards.

The property category has its own prohibitions, on top of the listing rules, because the sums involved make it the most attractive target for fraud.

• Listing a property you do not own, represent or hold written authority to market.
• Listing land in a protected zone, a river reserve or a temple buffer as though it were developable.
• Advertising short-term accommodation where no tourism accommodation licence exists, while implying one does.
• Presenting an arrangement as a form of ownership it is not, or asserting who is entitled to hold a given certificate.
• Marketing off-plan units without naming the developer and the expected completion date.

Pasaran does not determine entitlement to land or buildings and gives no legal advice on tenure. What a certificate, permit or lease actually allows in your case is a question for a licensed Indonesian notary or PPAT.

Use the report control on the listing and choose the prohibited item reason. These reports skip the ordinary queue and are looked at within the hour during Bali business hours.

Please do not engage with the seller first. Messaging a wildlife or fraud listing to confirm your suspicion warns the account, and the listing is usually deleted before a moderator can capture the evidence.

If you have already sent money, contact your bank immediately and report the matter to the police as well. A platform report is not a substitute for either, though we will co-operate with a lawful request for the account records.
